Hypothetically, if it could be guaranteed that next season a
NBA player would score 100 points in a game, who would that player be?
The only player in the
NBA who is capable of scoring 100 points in a game is Carmelo Anthony. I have felt this way for a few years. He’s in
his prime production years and an effortless scorer. He has scored 50 twice.
More importantly, he once scored 33 points in a quarter. If the Knicks were
playing a competitive game against the Rockets or Nuggets at MSG, it’s conceivable
that he could challenge the record.

Is there anyone else?
Lebron James: It’s
not impossible. He’s the best player in the NBA by a wide margin. However, he
is too much of a team player and focused solely on rings. Individual achievements
like this have never been a priority for him.
Kevin Durant: Again, it’s not impossible, but this type of individual
achievement doesn’t seem to fit into his personality. By all indications, his
only goal is to win. Plus, I believe any
player to come close to this record would have to be in their prime years, 26-30
years old-ish. KD is still a few years away.
Kobe: Nope, too old and a torn achilles.
James Harden: He’s probably the only other player who could
make a run, but he is also a little too young and has only 1 year of prime
scoring. The Rockets play at a very up-tempo pace. He’s not quite the
effortless scorer as Carmelo, but he’s getting there. If Carmelo fails to
challenge 100 points, Harden may be the on-deck.
The Field: Is it possible that someone not named LeBron,
Carmelo, Durant, or Harden score 100 points in a game next season? I doubt it,
but Stephen Curry, Monta Ellis, Dwight Howard would be the best of the rest.
